The production process of your handmade pure sea salt?
Produced using traditional methods in which sun and wind evaporate the sea water, leaving crystals that are skimmed by hand from the surface of salt pans.
Called the queen of the salts by some experts, this salt is produced by controlled evaporation, without industrial interventions. With the frost at dawn, little crystals are formed on the surface of the water, and these are collected by hand using traditional techniques, and then allowed to be dried by sun and wind for a year in sacks. It has a delicate taste and a slight marine odor and does not lose its properties over time.
We include some pics of the process. It is simple but it’s done very carefully, hand harvested.
Fleur De Sel is harvested through a careful procedure. When normal Sea Salt harvesting procedure starts, the very top layer of the salt is carefully collected. The impurities in the Sea Water are heavy and hence tend to sit at the bottom, which makes the top layer of salt clean and healthy. This upper layer salt is Fleur De Sel and is then packed and sold in the market. Since the salt is only the upper layer and needs careful handling while harvesting that’s why it’s very rare and expensive.
It is a perfect salt for our daily routine and is very beneficial for us in comparison to the common salt. Along with a better and refined taste, Fleur De Sel, is free of impurities and is very healthy to consume.
Fleur De Sel delicate and fine salt known across the globe as the best sea salt. Harvested manually through bare hands without the use of any metal or machinery, the Fleur De Sel is collected through a precise method at a specific time of the year in specified areas of France, Portugal and Spain. The process is so delicate and the salt so rare that only a single Kilogram of salt can be collected in a full day of salt harvesting.
Known for carrying over 84 minerals, very little impurities and fine taste, Fleur De Sel is among the healthiest salts known to men. This salt has an element of moisture in it and is grayish in color and is easily distinguishable from the common salts. Another very important quality of Fleur De Salt is that it is free of toxicity. During the process of harvesting, the heavy toxic elements sink to the bottom while Fleur De Salt is collected from the top and hence, it is completely toxic free.
For quite a long time there was no awareness about the salts, but as awareness is increasing, more and more people tends to buy natural salts instead of common table salts. Since it is the premier natural salt, so its demand is growing rapidly.
When & Why Should You Use Fleur De Sel?
Light, delicate flakes of pure sea salt dissolve instantly when sprinkled into food. Because of its delicate nature and higher price relative to other salts, fleur de sel isn’t meant for seasoning a dish while you cook it. If you expose it to high temperatures, it will melt and lose its unique character.
Instead, you should use sprinkles of fleur de sel on anything that needs a little extra oomph right before it’s consumed: salads, fish, meat, fruit, vegetables, and dessert. Some even sprinkle it on their oatmeal.
