This exquisite ceramic tile is a reproduction of tiles used during the 15th century to hold up the roofline of castles in Spain. The Spanish term for these medieval tiles is “Socarrat”. Each tile is individually handcrafted in Valencia, Spain. Irregularities in shape and design give the tiles an authentic look. Each of the designs is reminiscent of an actual medieval Spanish icon.
This tile measures 6.3″ W x 12″ H x 1″ thick and depicts medieval versions of a stork and a bull. All tiles come with a hook on the back that allow for hanging. As a finishing touch, and adding to the authenticity of each reproduction, the tiles have been stamped in the center by the artists unique symbol, a raging lion.
