Arrayanes Ceramic – Traditional Pottery from Granada

Ceramica Arrayanes is a family-run pottery workshop located just outside Granada, in the heart of Andalusia, Spain.
Granada pottery, also known as Barro Granadino or Fajalauza, has its origins in the 12th century during the reign of the Nasrid Dynasty, the last Muslim dynasty of the Iberian Peninsula. This heritage is still alive in today’s designs: bold cobalt blues, deep emerald greens, and distinctive geometric patterns inspired by the mosaic tiles and arabesque details of Granada’s most famous landmarks, such as the Alhambra Palace and the Alcázar.
Characteristic motifs—floral decorations, songbirds, and especially the pomegranate fruit—make this style instantly recognizable. The pomegranate, symbol of Granada itself (Granada translates to pomegranate in English), is a constant reminder of the city’s history and identity.
Today, artisans Manolo and Víctor carry on this centuries-old tradition while infusing their pieces with a modern touch. Their handmade plates, bowls, and decorative ceramics maintain the essence of authentic Granada pottery while offering fresh, contemporary elegance. Each creation is a tangible connection between Spain’s rich cultural history and today’s home décor, making them perfect both as art pieces and as meaningful gifts.
