Cruz Ceramics – Handmade Pottery from Castilla-La Mancha

In 1968, after generations of ceramic-making tradition, Emilio Cruz and María de la Cal opened their own workshop to share their creativity and passion for pottery. Today, the Cruz family continues this legacy in Puente de Arzobispo, a historic town along the Tajo River in the Spanish province of Toledo—an area renowned for its centuries-old pottery tradition.
The process begins with clay sourced directly from the local riverbanks, carefully cleaned and prepared at the Cruz family workshop. Each piece is hand-shaped on the potter’s wheel by Emilio, then passed on to skilled family artisans for decorating. Featuring both traditional Castilla-La Mancha motifs and original creative designs, every Cruz ceramic carries the signature style of its maker.
Four Cruz family artisans contribute to the painting process, each with their own distinct artistic touch. This means no two pieces are ever alike—every plate, jug, or decorative object is completely unique and one-of-a-kind.
